about

HD-4824, re-mixed and remastered in 2020.

“…it’s so haunting, when you look at the galaxy, when you look at the sky, if you could think about how stars should sound. I think they should sound just like this.”
Jacki Lyden, Weekend Edition Saturday, National Public Radio

Top Ambient, Top Classical Album — CDBaby

'Nature of the Night Sky Rx2' features the sounds of stars as its sole sound source. Composed of stellar resonance from 15 stars as modeled by astrophysicist collaborator Dr. Daniel Huber, member of NASA's completed Kepler Mission, Talman’s 50-minute work was first introduced as an installation in the Bavarian Forest, Germany.

The artist down-mixed the 5-channel installation sound to 2 channels in binaural stereo format for the 2011 release of the original CD and download. For this remix-remastered release of the project, the work features a new binaural stereo version of the work produced with more accurate and powerful software than the 2011 original. The binaural stereo was then mastered via a chain of modern processing modules that better reveal inner textures and details of the sound, which were much more readily available in the multi-channel sound.

Available in 48 kHz, 24-bit sound and other formats.
